Bijrani Zone in Corbett Park is known for its richness in natural beauty and the vast grasslands. Mixed type of topography can be seen here. Tiger spotting is almost a certain activity in this zone compared to other places in Corbett Park. The best time for visiting this zone is from Mid October to June.
Jhirna Zone is a popular tourist area in Jim Corbett National Park. It is blessed with abundant scenic beauty and is also popular because it remains open for visitors throughout the year. Wild bears can be spotted in this area along with the other animals.
Durga Devi Zone in the Corbett National Park is located at a high altitude. It gives a difficult yet a very adventurous trekking trail to the visitoINR Situated on the northeastern side of the Corbett National Park, this is an amazing place for bird spotteINR Besides bird spotting and trekking, tourists can indulge in the sheer joy of angling in this zone. This place is open to visitors from mid-November to mid-June.
DHELA- a new fifth eco-tourism zone will become fully functional from December 01, 2014. Deputy Director Corbett Tiger Reserve Saket Badola quoted that Tourist and wildlife lovers can also enjoy nature trail from 1st January next year. The new zone will be an addition to the four zones that is already operational in the park namely Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna and Durgadevi. Saket Badola gave the information about fifth tourism zone and told that the whole Zone will be sprawl over 1173 hectare of area with 46 Kilometers of jungle path.
Sonanadi Sanctuary is spread over 301.18 sqkm of prime forests of the Shiwalik Terai biotic province. Sonanadi literally means the river of gold. Gold panning used to be carried out in the river before the area became a sanctuary. The Palain and the Mandal are the perennial streams of the sanctuary. Historically, it was carved out of Kalagarh Forest Division. It was brought under the umbrella of Project Tiger and became a part of the Corbett Tiger Reserve in 1991 and also a part of Project Elephant. There are no villages inside the sanctuary. The forests of Sonanadi are remarkable for dense sal and rich bamboo clusters besides other species and is teeming with wildlife.
The Jim Corbett National Park is blessed with the natural bounty in the form of distinct flora which comprises of fresh water flora and alpine flora. Extent over an area of more than 521 square kilometers the Corbett has diverse floral count that is absolutely astonishing. The various habitat types of Corbett is occupied by Sal forests, Khair-Sisso forests, Mountains, Chaur, and rivers and streams that owes their distinct assemblage of plants. According to botanical survey of India Corbett has 600 species of plants - trees, shrubs, ferns, grass, climbers, herbs and bamboos. Corbett national park is easily accessabile from the capital of India 'Delhi' by road and also by train. Nearest Airport is also 'Delhi Airport' which is around 250 kms away from 'Ramnagar'. One domestic airport at a distance of 65 kms in 'Pantnagar' has established but there are no regular flights for this airport. Following are the best routes to reach corbett from Delhi, Lucknow, Bareilly and Haridwar. Since Delhi enjoys excellent air connectivity with India and important world cities, visitors can board a direct or connecting flight till Delhi and then travel to Corbett by road or rail. The journey will be time-saving.
The nearest Domestic Airport is Pantnagar Airport, Pantnagar, roughly one and half hours drive from Corbett. It is well connected to New Delhi through Jagson Airlines. The second nearest International Airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, about 274 Kms away and is roughly four and half hour drive from Corbett. Frequent Flights to various national and international destinations take off from here.
The nearest railway station from Corbett is Ramnagar which is around 12 km from the park and the station is directly connected to the railway stations in Delhi. A direct train named Ranikhet Express runs from Delhi to Ramnagar which is the best train to reach Corbett from Delhi. You can catch the Ranikhet express at 10:50 pm at Delhi to reach Ramnagar at 04:35 am next day, and again return by catching the same train at Ramnagar at 09:05 pm to reach Delhi at 05:00 am next day. The train operates on a daily basis. However, Ramnagar station is the best option to reach Corbett but alternatively, you can also arrive at the Kathgodam station and visit Ramnagar by taxi or cab which will take around 3 and half hours by road.
